Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project
Medicine Hat, Alberta - March 26, 2024: Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project is pleased to announce our collaboration with Medicine Hat Public School Division for the installation of the Canada Connects Friends & Family National Mural Mosaic to be installed in Medicine Hat, Alberta on June 12th, 2024.
Artists of all skill levels throughout Canada and many parts of the world have come together to produce hundreds of paintings in the Canada Connects Friends & Family National mural. Each artist has contributed a unique tile to the mural, representing their reflections of how we are all connected. With its vibrant colors and each painting’s style and expression, this mosaic serves as a reminder of the power of collaboration.
Since 2003, Mural Mosaic has been creating art that celebrates unity and diversity through awe inspiring mosaic productions. Using the Mural Mosaic process invented by artist Lewis Lavoie, the mission of our work is to bring people together in a way that honors everyone’s unique perspectives. We have produced Mural Mosaics throughout the globe, inspiring viewers to recognize the beauty of our differences and come together in one united work of art.
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to have the Canada Connects Friends & Family Mosaic as permanent work of art in the Medicine Hat community. We hope to inspire artists to continue to paint in a way that brings them joy, to celebrate connection and encourage everyone to share with one another.
“Medicine Hat Public School Division serves a unique population, many of whom speak different languages and come from diverse cultures. We see this art piece as a bridge that unites our voices, weaving together the vibrance that lies at the heart of our city. Through this mural, we honour the culture, perspectives, and talents within our community, nurturing a space of beauty, where students can be inspired. In their hands, art can become a powerful tool for fostering unity, understanding, and progress. It brings us great joy to celebrate the beauty of creativity and the spirit of collaboration. Together, we will paint a bright future, where creativity knows no bounds.’ Mark Davidson, Superintendent of Medicine Hat Public School Division.
Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots is a unique initiative that aims to bring people from around the world together through the power of art. Each Mural Mosaic production invites people from communities everywhere to come together to celebrate their unity through their diverse expressions of art. With each tile placed in a mural, Global Roots is reconnecting the world through the joy of art – one tile, one mural mosaic, one country at a time.
