French 10

French 20
The themes covered in this course include:
- Les fêtes (Celebrations and Holidays)
- En vacances (Travel and Hotels)
- Chez nous (The Home and Housework)
- La nourriture (Appetite, Food and Table Manners)
- La santé (Health and Fitness)
French 30
The themes covered in this course include:
- La technologie (Sound, Sight and Automation)
- En ville (Errands and Finding Things Around Town)
- L’avenir et les métiers (The Future and the Work World)
- L’espace vert (Nature and Saving the Planet)
- Les Arts (Performances and Festivals)
In all three courses, the language of instruction will be predominantly French. At each of the three levels, students will be encouraged to use spoken and written French to the limits of their ability.
JAPANESE

Japanese 10
This is a beginner course in Japanese. In this course both written and spoken skills are emphasized. Students are expected to participate in a variety of learning activities including role play, group projects, games, and activities.
Japanese 20
In this course, oral and written communication is emphasized. Themes such as shopping, fashion, and sports will be studied and will give students opportunities to practice and use new language skills. Students are required to participate in group projects, games, and other language building activities.
Japanese 30
A greater emphasis on oral production and written work is emphasized. Students learn about the different levels of speech including casual and honorific speech. Speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills are emphasized to develop the students’ competence in communication. Students are required to participate in group projects, games, and other language building activities.
SPANISH

Spanish 10
This is a beginner course available to students in any grade level. Students will be introduced to basic vocabulary, grammar, and culture through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students who complete this course successfully may proceed to Spanish 20.
Spanish 20
Language skills such as reading, speaking, and writing will be perfected through increased use of Spanish.
Spanish 30
This course meets the minimum requirements for university entrance. Emphasis is placed on all four skill areas listening, speaking, reading and writing in order to maximize the students’ communication skills
